America is sick

Well I am sure many people have been watching the markets fall day after day and then have a good day and then back to the free fall. I honestly cannot tell you how much this is troubling me. It seems to me that America is sick and the "Doctors" (congress, the president, etc...) are not doing what is best for her instead opting for experimental and risky treatments that have worsened her condition. Let's face it government intervention in these areas rarely work as planned and do nothing more but lead to further "solutions" that don't work.

In 1920 we faced a similar situation and well while people in the government didn't know what to do so they did nothing. And you know what, doing nothing worked. Following that situation we had the crash of 1929 and this time government had a plan....which didn't work. After that FDR was elected with a better plan that spent more and more money....it didn't work.... Then World War II happened and it forced us to boost production in our plants and so on and that is what pulled us out of the Depression. I am not advocating a World War by anymeans, what I am advocating is not spending money we don't have and actuallycuttting back on programs.

Here is my economic policy, it is simple and one I can only hope will be implicated in some way some day:

1. Our tax code is to complicated and has way to many loopholes, there are to many different "brackets" and lets face the facts it seems that not only average people but those who run the IRS don't understand and make mistakes resulting in losses of what I can only assume is millions of dollars. My solution is a flat 10% tax rate on every American who recieves an income. If 10% is good enough for God it is good enough for America why do we need to be greedy. On top of that we should have a national sales tax of 1.25% on every non essential product sold. Now to make sure everyone pays their 10% tax we should eliminate all tax breaks and deductions. As it stands now the average American pays a higher percetage of their income in taxes then the rich do to the fact the rich found the loopholes and exploited them. Now I'm not saying all of the write offs are just exploiting the code, but in order to maintain fairness I think all deductions should be eliminated.

2. Corperate Taxes: In the U.S. we have the highest Corperate Income Tax rate in the WORLD. This makes us less and less attractive for companies to have their headquarters and what not in the United States. The solution? You guessed it slash the rates from 15-39% down to a flat rate of 15% income tax and lets add a 10% Social Security Tax to the corperations. So instead of paying 15-39% plus the additional SSI and so on we bundle it all together into a 25% tax on the company. This should make our country more attractive to do business in.

3. Trade: This is simple, countries like China for instance have issued a tarriff on American products coming in making them more expensive but we let them send there stuff in here for free. Solution if you have a tarriff on American Products the their will be a tarriff on your products. I am all for free trade but only if it is free trade both ways we are getting swindled. I'll keep this one dependant on the "trading partner", whatever they want tocharge to bring our stuff in is what we will charge to bring their stuff in. For example lets say China has a 20% tarriff on American products well then we slap a 20% tarriff on Chinese products, when they lower or eliminate their rates we do the same. That is free and fair trade made simple.

4. Government Spending: Our government spends way to much money and as of now we are spending more then we bring in. This is bad news and something almost everybody understands can only bring more trouble. Solution cut spending. We don't need to keep people perpetually on welfare, I mean yes I understand sometimes people need help but if they are just going to sit around and collect money from the government then they should be cut off. Give them certain criteria that must be met in order to recieve assistance and a cut off date. If they can't get a job because they don't have any skills a portion of there assisstance goes towards skills training and they will have so long to complete the training and then find a job. I have heard suggestions that they should have voting rights suspended during their time on assistance but I haven't yet decided that this is a good idea. I will wrap this up, the only two programs I will now cut are infastructure and defense. All others will be cut and/or privitized.

Well that is my for step plan it is adjustible so I'll make changes to it as I see fit.
